Any author out there who's approached book bloggers before knows how difficult it is."Who do I approach first?" "Will they even read my book?" "Their blog is too big for me to ask."
So I can imagine how difficult is can be for a new author to even think about approaching book bloggers to ask them to review their book.
Now, as a book blogger, I receive review requests every month, even though it states that I'm not accepting any new review requests. This will annoy a book blogger, especially if they've already started on their blog that they're not taking on any new review requests.
So here are some helpful tips if you're looking to get your book out there to book bloggers.
1. Check a selection of book blogs and see if they are accepting review submissions. There are loads of blogs out there to choose from. Some blogs are inundated with review requests and can't take any more on, so don't be disheartened if they say no.
2. If a book blog is accepting review requests, send them an email addressing the blogger by their name in the email. Keep your email clear and give them details about your book including the synopsis.
3. Don't ask bloggers to review your book through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Send them an email. It's more professional.
3. Give them time to respond. Bloggers don't spend all their time sitting at a computer. They have commitments, family, work, so don't expect them to respond right away.
4. If a blogger does say they can review your book, thank them, send them a copy of your book, and share their review once it's up on their blog.
These tips are sure to help you when it comes to approaching book bloggers. The majority are lovely and will give you advice and support, so don't be scared to send them an email.
